Dear Reader,

I hope your Saturday morning is well. I've got news from the dream.

It took all week, but I finally published Vampire Panther. Purchase both the ebook and audiobook directly from Ophelia Kee. Or it's on preorder everywhere else and will release February 29, 2024 on the retailers. It will be in hardcover, paperback, audiobook, and ebook formats.

I have paused additional chapters to the Royal Council Miniseries. It will resume posting with Angry King on January 27, 2024. I had to take time off from editing to publish Vampire Panther, and I need to finish the read through on Angry King before it goes to edits. If I can get it faster, I will. Look for some extras to be updated in between now and then.

Just when I thought I had it all done, someone threw a wrench into the works. Sigh. I posted Kingdom Rising, the audiobook, to Findaway Voices, but it failed to upload, 3 times! AARG. Breathe.

Two days later, I realized I ran into a technical glitch with it and had to reach out to the support people. It wasn't me; it was them. They had to contact Google's support team. It's currently available from Ophelia Kee and from Google Books. Cross your fingers for anything else.

Quest for the Valkyries has concluded on Substack and awaits AI audio before I can begin the Valkyrie Riders Miniseries. Demon Allies, Eagle Lords, and Lyons Gate are all in the works, along with 6 more. Whew. But that's for later. The other current miniseries projects are:

Which is a perfect segue into the story of the week. Haunted Echoes is the first volume in the Mystic Dark Prequel Trilogy. I posted it in the Mystic Dark Miniseries in December for anyone who can't wait to read. The miniseries is five stories ahead of the books which are publishing. Haunted Echoes is currently available in both ebook and audiobook formats from OpheliaKee.com. It's on preorder at the retailers and will launch January 31, 2023. Ruined Hearts will publish in March. Danika Klein was a human woman supernaturally cursed with the ability to draw the path of infinity into the dream. It wasn’t always a pleasant experience, and although she doesn’t completely understand how it works, it didn’t stop others from hoping to exploit her talent. Her life or death mattered little to them.

With a bit of cold, dark luck, she escaped the clutches of men who would enslave her and abuse her abilities, but that luck seemed short-lived as the weather turned nasty on an early spring night in a dark forest west of Chicago, Illinois.

Just as she believed she chose death on her own terms and escaped the shattered soul fortune derived from drawing the infinite path, Danika found herself trapped in a secluded cabin with an unstable man who despises her existence, yet refuses to allow her to leave, claiming she needs to heal.

He might be unbalanced, but everything about Rorik Skog Vættr ignites her soul. If the haunted echoes of his past interfere, will Danika have to leave her ruined heart behind when she flees the wilderness? Or will the fates conspire to keep them locked in the forest as shattered souls?

Rorik Skog Vættr was an outcast immortal forest spirit. The Vættir Council sentenced him to exile when they found him guilty of failing to protect his small forest home after a fire burned several thousand acres of land in the Leaindeail. A human started the blaze, but he had no way to prove it. It didn’t matter; Rorik was responsible, just as the council decided.

After wandering aimlessly as a homeless draugr, he swore an oath to a Forest Lord and took a new residence in Elburn Forest, a nature preserve in the Domhain between Chicago and DeKalb, Illinois.

Humans entered his domain to hike the trails, but his solitary nature meant he rarely saw them. At the end of March 2016, the weather was still too unpredictable, and his abode, far from any trail, ensured his isolation. Preferring solitude, Rorik kept a watchful eye on the land to ensure what happened once didn’t repeat.

No preparation was enough to defend his heart from Danika Klein. When the half frozen woman fell in his front door, the dream tilted, leaving Rorik unsure of his place in it and wondering if it would ever balance again.

His bitter hatred for humans wasn’t enough to keep him from feeling pity for the broken young woman. The longer she stayed, the stranger his life became, and the deeper his attraction to her grew.

Rorik resented the loss of his solitude. He should have sent her back to her own kind, but her near death and extreme anxiety had him needing answers and desiring something more.

Would the fools chasing her bring the haunted echo of his tragic past to destroy his new home in their quest to enslave her? Or would the price he swore to pay to save her ruin his heart and shatter his soul?

I hope you will love this novella tale as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Marketing Efforts

Nebulous cloud in space

Like smoke on the wind or a distant nebula in outer space, my ability to market my stories is transitory or impossible to reach. I must market them if they are ever to find their place in the bookish community.

It would be great if discoverability were simpler, but authors must face the truth when selling their creative products. Books are products which require marketing to sell.

I'm looking into promo-stacking with Written Word Media and some other newsletter promotional sites. For those of you who write, Kindlepreneur and Awesome Gang are good places to start when hunting for promotional sites.

I'm also serious about running ads on Facebook and Pinterest, but I lack funds.

The issue is always money, so that brings me to free marketing options. I know of some places which will allow me to post an author interview, or will allow me to post a book or two with buying links. And I can promote the stories in Facebook groups and the writer's lifts on X.

I'm also checking out Bookfunnel promotions. I may add a section to the blog to help other Indie authors in the hopes they'll help me in return. In the end, I doubt I can avoid paying for book promotions. More sighing.
