Discovering Greylight Hanmar - December 19, 2025
Dear Reader,
On a Saturday morning while I should have been sleeping in after a long week at the day job, i woke up to a strange scene in my head. A character I'd never met stood on the stage of the dream, showing me a segment of a tragedy. I learned his name a day later, but this is what I had to write, all bleary-eyed without my glasses:
Greylight Hanmar watched the flames slowly erase the suffering of the past. When the fire died, the pain had muted, but the blackened ruins and ashes remained like the ghosts his memories had become. He closed his eyes, inhaling the acrid scent of smoke and finality. The dawn approached within the hour. It was time to become his name.
I have too many questions. Who the hell is this guy? What exactly has burned? What ghosts does he refer to? How does a man become grey light?
Writing in the dream is definitely an epic journey of discovery.
Things I know at this time:
- There's a short video of a twilight woman on a thumb drive, which Greylight took off the body of a man he killed with a knife.
- The man had attempted to blackmail the man whose name is rarely ever spoken above a whisper out of fear that he might appear and end their life.
- The woman is of extreme importance to Greylight, but not for the reasons the dead man believed.
Things I still need to know to continue this tale:
- What is the woman's name?
- What is a Twilight person?
- Why is Greylight hunting this woman?
If anyone wonders what I'll be doing over the winter vacation, I'll be delving into the murky spaces between mortality, immortality and the cracks which exist between the realms of the dream. This should prove rather interesting.

Behind the Scenes
If Santa's reindeer can fly, then a tiger can write stories. Fantasy allows the mind to bend all the rules, break them, and redefine everything. Magic is the wonder humans feel when encountering something new. The dream, like any fantasy, seeks to reveal the magic of a world that eerily resembles our own.
The theme of things not always being what they seem runs throughout the Draoithe Saga and appears in every miniseries. Magic fascinates with sleight of hand and the illusions created through careful planning. Just as the magician pulls the rabbit from the empty but enchanted hat, the dream seeks to reveal the unexpected insight into the issues within the dream and how the magic may be balanced.
