Mourning the Loss of Time - April 17, 2026

Dear Reader,

It's Monday. I'm sitting at my desk at the day job, on the lunch break which begins before eleven in the morning. Perhaps it should be considered the brunch break. We only have 30 minutes and no other scheduled breaks. I find as I age the need to leave the cage grows stronger.

While I only get paid for seven and a half hours, I'm technically trapped for eight hours because where can I go, and return, in only 30 minutes? Add another hour for the commute and nine hours of time I could have been writing or creating vanish into the need for a paycheck. Sigh...

Occasionally, I steal a few moments to step into the dream and write a post like this, or check the retail dashboards. Sometimes I get a mindless task accomplished, such as updating the universal book link with more stores or libraries. It is draining, dividing my attention and rarely allows me to truly step into the dream.

When I was a child, I longed for the weekend to play, when time was less structured. Not much has changed in fifty-one years. The focus is less on blocks and toy cars and more on my stories and merchandise, but the desire to spend my time playing with my books and my dreams with no other demands weighing on me remains similar.

Here I sit, once again, as the days blur into one another, mourning the loss of time and longing for the dream.

And now a word from our sponsor, Ophelia Kee.

Thread, the entry point into the world of the dream.

Unraveling chaos with each tattered thread

A thousand years ago, chaos escaped into the dream. By 2016, shadowy evil forces using madness were wreaking havoc on the balance of magic and erasing necessary parts of an ancient prophecy. In danger of losing its magic, the dream attempts to use broken pieces and replacement parts to weave a new tapestry. Choosing the right building blocks isn’t easy.

In this exhilarating prequel tale, meet Luke and Eli, two characters with fascinating pasts and complicated secrets, before they become the king and queen the dream needs them to be. Luke Mendez is a retired military man. Having anxiety, he spies the beautiful girl next door, but then struggles to introduce himself. Eli Miller, the high school history teacher, worked tirelessly for years to break free from a terrible relationship. She moved to Tyler to start over.

Thread is the story of a lonely direwolf shifter and a lone tiger shifter in a time before the two of them meet each other. It sets the stage for A Pack Forms, an enthralling urban fantasy with a paranormal romance tale in the epic Draoithe Saga by Ophelia Kee. If you enjoy the story before the story, Thread is your free introduction to a new series.

Welcome to the dream…

Behind the Scenes

Tiger remodeling a bathroom

In real life, Dragon discovered a leak in the bathroom plumbing. Leaks are never good, but it's a nightmare in this case. It's an old beach trailer. Fixing the leak requires removing the toilet and shower, along with the floor. I'm not sure about the sink counter, but that might have to go, too.

Learning all this and prepping the bathroom for the construction crew led me to realize there is far more stuff in the bathroom than I realized. I tossed out several old, partially used, unappreciated items like that body wash everyone hated, and the lotion bottles that still had stuff in them when the pumps stopped working. I don't recommend a bathroom model to inspire spring cleaning, but if this is your wake-up call to stop hoarding the dregs, I hope it was helpful.

It's time to remodel. Considering everything, I decided a bigger shower was in order, and I'm finally getting glass shower doors. The construction crew arrived on Wednesday. Cross your fingers everything works by the end of the week next week. This weekend isn't looking too great, though. Bear with me. I may not cater to the muse as often as usual. She will be grouchy, as she always wants to run fast. I promise to do as much as possible around the mess.
