January Cleanup Results - January 31, 2025
Dear Reader,
Writing and publishing over the course of the year makes a mess of things. As you know, I have spent weeks cleaning things up. I let you in on the behind-the-scenes for updating and organizing Payhip, Substack, and Blogger. I even shared how I streamlined YouTube to better support OpheliaKee.com.
I also took a bit of time to clean house on Pinterest and reorganize that messy business as well. I had seriously neglected it and more than half the links no longer functioned. But Pinterest is a search engine, so people looking for stories like mine have a better chance of stumbling over them there than just about any other social media site.
I updated the author site at Cravebooks, Books2Read, and BookBub. Now, readers can easily discover everything I've published with the correct covers and all the updated descriptions.
If Goodreads ever gives control of their author profiles into the hands of the independent author, then I might bother updating it. I don't care to hunt down some elusive, possibly nonexistent helper to update my books. I chose to self publish to avoid the gate keepers.
Goodreads is also owned by Amazon. Rarely do I sell books there, so I don't drink the Kool-aid or enroll my ebooks into Kindle Unlimited. (I want my stories available in libraries.) I suspect my audience may not be part of the Amazon empire because I also do not pay for ads on Amazon, either.
The thought of deleting the Goodreads account occurred to me, but that's a lot of work which interferes with my writing, so meh...
Shameless Self Promotion

If you love a good beginning of the quest tale, Quest of the Valkyries by Ophelia Kee brings the dark prophecy and dangerous magic of dragons on a quest to the fledgling immortal kingdom of Draoithe. Failure dooms them to an eternity of uselessness. If they succeed, their futures in the dream would be secured with purpose. Everything rests on finding their lost Valkyries.
It’s more than a story; it’s an experience. Welcome to the dream…

Behind the Scenes - Social Media

On a fresh note, when TikTok went dark, many creators sought other social media sites to build an audience. They posted notices of where to follow them on other platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Threads, X, and even Notes saw an uptick in TikTok-style posts. I noticed it as I posted to my sites. Now that TikTok is back in the light, I suspect many creators will return, but a few may still maintain their alternate preference while we wait to see how things progress.
I keep a minimally viable presence on all these sites, so if readers stumble over me, they may find the dream. Where am I present the most this year? While I loved Threads at the beginning of last year, it became quite overcrowded with all the things I found harmful to my mental health relatively quickly. I shifted about halfway through last year, and I now interact on Notes far more than any other platform.
Something I'm looking into further is Lemon8. I have added little there beyond updating a few profile details. I worry it may disappear if TikTok goes dark again, but it looks as if it might be more friendly to faceless posts, which my day job requires. If the rumors about Meta taking a controlling interest are true, it will probably have no better organic reach than other Meta platforms in relatively short order. We shall see what happens on that front in a few months.

On The Writing Front
It's shaping up to be a Mystic Dark kind of year in 2025. I finished the final read through for Godless Dark. I still need to pen the story description and the character description for it, but the manuscript is done. There are now 5 stories queued for edits, videos, quoting, posting, formatting, and publishing.
Tentative Timeline for publishing?
Lunar Dark February 15, 2025
Soul Dark April 19, 2025
Nightmare Dark June 21, 2025
Blood Dark August 16. 2025
Godless Dark October 18, 2025
The day job gets in the way, but it may be possible to get these five titles out this year. I'm hopeful. In between publishing these titles, I'd like to publish the last three titles in the Valkyrie Riders Miniseries. I want to publish one more title in the Lyons Gate Miniseries as well.
I'd like to open the Dread Desire Miniseries, the Eagle Lords Miniseries, and I want to publish volume one in the Kings Wilde Miniseries. It's ambitious, I know. But many of these stories are complete and need only revision, a read through, and an edit. A hold up often comes in creating the art which must accompany all these stories.

I need to get back to the edits. Leave your comments and questions. I love to hear from you. Thank you for stepping into the dream once more. I hope you have a lovely weekend and will discover a great story. Please remember when you read, be kind and leave your reviews. Until my next post, welcome to the dream...
Be Careful!
Happy Reading,
Ophelia Kee
